Guest Entry: Vacation from retirement

Back when I was working, my wife had to schedule trips for us to go out of town on my vacation days, or else I wouldn’t take them. Now that I’m retired, I help lead a Boy Scout troop and volunteer regularly at the local soup kitchen. My wife jokes that I retired from one job and took on two new ones, which I have to admit she does have a point.

But I don’t think that I’m the only person that’s like that. All of my former co-workers that retired around the same time are involved in similar activities. So when my wife told me that she was going to schedule an appointment for me at one of the Miracle Ear locations in PA to figure out if I need hearing aids, I told her that I wouldn’t have room in my schedule for almost a month.

She was a little irritated and reminded me that I was retired after all. I finally found a way to move around my commitments to take the time and went to one of the Hearing Aid Locations for the test and I’m glad I did but it ends up that I did need hearing aids, after all.
