I love gadgets. I really do. Ever since I was young I always asked my parents to buy me the newest and hottest gadget available. Of course, some of them are very expensive and my parents can’t afford those but I make sure that when it comes to gadgets I’m up to date. My favorite basic thing that has been modified and modified over the years is the watch. There are calculator watches, gaming watches, cellphone watches and of course, talking watches. Everybody needs to know the time so almost everyone owns a watch. So, it’s really great that some people come up with some type of entertainment for your watch to bring life to your old boring time teller.

Probably, when internet was first introduced to the public, we most of the time used it for entertainment purposes like chatting, sending emails etc. But now, we can do so much stuff on the net like watch movies, do researches, complete important transactions and even online trading. In a few more years, I wonder what the future of the internet would be. It would probably blow our minds away.

I still remember the first OS (operating system) I’ve used when I was in my high school years. We used the Disk Operating System that runs via floppy disk and all commands have to be memorized to be able to execute certain programs. When I entered college, we started to use Windows OS in response to the growing interest in graphical user interfaces. If I’m not mistaken, the version I first used was 3.xx something like that. But now here I am using the latest version of Windows, the Windows Vista Home Premium SP1.

I was already here in the US when I started using the Windows Vista and I like it very much. I’m sure many of you first noticed the layout and visualization of the said OS. There are plenty of features that had been made by Vista and to list a few here are my favorites:

Desktop Search – One feature in Windows Vista that I love is the desktop search. Any time you have a folder open, a search box appears in the upper right corner. From there, you can search for any kind of file or information on your computer. While the desktop search is powerful and makes it easy to find files fast, you can also add metadata to your files making it a snap to find them later.

Windows Speech Recognition – The inclusion of speech recognition in Vista is a great feature for anyone, but especially those with disabilities.

Windows Aero Glass – Depending on your hardware, you might be privledged to experience Windows Aero, the new visual style for Vista. Aero offers transparent window frames, live thumbnails in the taskbar, live thumbnails in the application switcher, and more. It is not available in Windows Vista Home Basic and Starter editions, although the Desktop Window Manager is included in Windows Vista Home Basic.

Performance Improvements – Vista offers some new features that can improve the performance of your computer, including Windows ReadyBoost, Windows SuperFetch, Windows ReadyDrive, and the Sleep power state.

New Applications and Games – There are more new or improved applications and games in Windows Vista. Here’s a few: Windows Media Player 11, Windows Media Center, Windows DVD Maker, Windows Movie Maker, Windows Photo Gallery, Windows Sidebar and Gadgets, Windows Contacts, Windows Defender, Windows Calendar, Windows Mail, Sync Center, Games, Windows Meeting Space, and the Snipping Tool.

If you are not yet aware about Microsoft’s newly introduced Windows Vista Small Business Assurance, it is another version of the Vista operating system. Just by reading the OS’s name, you’ll know what it does. And also, to ensure a smooth transition they’re offering free support, compatibility assistance and one-on-one coaching from Microsoft if you buy a new PC with Windows Vista Business or Windows Vista Ultimate from July 1 through December 31, 2008.

See? That’s the reason why I’m very loyal to Microsoft. I grew up with them and I will die using their programs and machines hehehehe. Though on second thought, I also want to try the Ubuntu Linux if we can get a new laptop or desktop soon.

Recently, my husband downloaded mp3′s of his favorite childhood OPM band. Thru this, we remembered to use our old zune which has been kept in its box for about over a year now. After compiling a complete collection of our favorite bands, my husband and I are suddenly fond of this forgotten gadget. After downloading songs the next thing we did is to update the firmware and software. The updated firmware and software are so cool. Our old boring mp3 player suddenly has games now and the software is also incredibly amusing to use. Although, at first we thought about buying a new player like the new ipod and those new cool MP3 players but after updating our old zune, we kind of feel contented with our good old Boomer.

It has 80 gigs space but fully loaded of pictures and videos plus other heavy programs.

For the past couple of days I’ve been experiencing some difficulties with my laptop. I’ve noticed that after about three hours of usage I would suddenly lose my internet connection. So, far I have not been able to find what’s wrong. I also found out that if I disconnect the power cord and let my laptop run only with its battery it will only stay on for a maximum of about 10 – 15 minutes. Luvski said he bought the laptop almost two years ago so I’m guessing maybe it’s time to buy a new battery or if we have money how about a new laptop? Well, I doubt that we can buy a laptop right now because we need to prepare for our coming baby. So, now I’ll just have to settle with what I have and hopefully soon we can upgrade our laptop or possibly get a new one and if that time comes I want this new model of Asus S6F a pink leather laptop, a girls best friend hehehehe… Can someone buy it for me please! I will review it on my tinytuts blog.

Even if I watch English films, I feel that I am not contented with out the subtitles. Maybe I feel that way because I want to make sure that I understand all the dialogs and I’m not missing any good part of the movie I’m watching. It’s a good thing that most DVD movies right now have this option.

Most people own a computer because they need it for work or school and sometimes for entertainment. Most of these pc owners do not know how their computer works and find it very difficult to upgrade their system. Sometimes you want to change your hard drive or maybe upgrade your graphics card but you do not know which one is right for your pc.

Memorystore.com has a list of upgrades that are available for your system. All the user needs to do is to choose your system model and there you go. All kinds of relevant upgrades will be listed. I tried it and checked for upgrades for my old Dell desktop and I found it very easy. If only I knew about this store earlier, I would have bought a Dell Memory sooner. So, if you’re not sure of what the right upgrades for your system are, consult the website. It will really be a big help for you.

I wanted to scan some baby pictures of Yuna so I can add them to my flickr account but unfortunately, I found out that our scanner is broken. So, I decided to browse the internet for a new scanner and guess what? I found this ScanShell 2000N (2000NR) a portable scanner and I’m fascinated. Can you imagine? A portable scanner! Technology is indeed moving so fast. This scanner is very handy because of its small size. All you have to do is to feed your pictures to the scanner the same way you would feed paper to your printer and viola! It’s so easy to use and plus there is no need for external power. It also displays a high resolution 600 dpi colored scan. Its USB 2.0 port connection feature allows for a fast and easy one-cable hook up to your notebook or desktop PC and the unique “launch” button starts your imaging application instantly. The portable scanner came along with Bundled software… the DocShell is an easy to use utility that scan documents and export the scanned image into existing, pre-installed application on the user’s pc like PDF, Microsoft paint and etc. The scanned document can be saved to one of the following image types: BMP, JPG, TIF, PSD, PCX, PNG or TGA. It would really go well with our laptop and we can bring it where ever we go. I think this is more suited for those very busy Executives and Professionals.
