Everyday, many people uses and takes dietary supplement for health benefits. It can be a Food or Nutritional Supplement, a preparation intended to supplement the diet and provide nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals, fiber, fatty acids, or amino acids, that may be missing or may not be consumed in sufficient quantity in a person’s diet. It can be in tablets, capsules or as tea or oil supplement.

A good example of supplement which is widely use today, is the Oregano Oil a widely known herb used as a potent germ-killer, anti-inflammatory and pain reliever. It is also being widely studied for its vast medical uses. Oregano oil has extremely high levels of free-radical-fighting antioxidants, agents that protect the body from the development of chronic conditions over time. Oregano oil is also a excellent source of vitamins and minerals. It is high in the vitamins A, C, and E complex, as well as zinc, magnesium, iron, calcium, potassium, copper, manganese and niacin.

Another example is Bio D-Mulsion. A supplement rich in Vitamins D and D-3 which encourages the absorption and metabolism of calcium and phosphorous. It also supplies vitamin D3 in an emulsified form to aid in uptake and assimilation, especially important for those with mal-absorption issues.

In various rural areas towering buildings, lots of people, and skyscrapers are a common sight. This is one of the few ways you could describe Chicago, Illinois’ demography.

To keep up with the city’s continuous forward progress almost everyone owns an automobile to take them from place to place and make traveling a little more hassle-free. This automobiles, in case of engine trouble, technical issue, or just plain maintenance, Chicago auto repair shop are found all over the city to provide the service needed for every automotive needs.

There’s various types of vehicles that is driving around Chicago’s bustling city. Most of which are imported from other countries or continents such as Europe and Japan.

Speaking of which, there’s also an overwhelming amount of vehicle brand names that is available on the market one of them being Toyota Corolla, which according to recent studies, is one of the best-selling vehicle in the world to the staggering units of 35 million cars sold.

Regardless of brand, quality, and made, an automobile still requires the proper care and maintenance to keep it from functioning smoothly. There will be times that your car may suffer from parts repair or even replacement such as the water pump which is responsible for your automobile’s cooling system. In case of trouble, always know that there are various auto shops willing to give the service you need just like the aforementioned Chicago auto repair. Remember, always keep your car in check to ensure a 100% hassle-free travel.

I’ve been watching a creature but not exactly horror movie called Splice and I can’t help thinking of the extremities of human emotions and capabilities and all the stupid things that humans can do. But I can’t help think of other similar themes especially the one regarding the search for eternal life. Sure it doesn’t say in the movie that they are looking for the elixir but it does show the need to lengthen life. Find something.

For example if one has the Mesothelioma Disease or cancer, his or her family member would definitely find the best oncologist or preferred doctor and even the best Mesothelioma Lawyer just to find the best chance for their loved one’s survival. It’s human nature. It’s instinct to protect those you love. It is still a moral issue though, this cloning, this gene splicing, and other methods but if it involves other lives of people or putting them in danger, it’s a different issue altogether. One must weigh all the options involved. If you wanna know more about Mesothelioma Disease just click the highlighted word it will send you to a website full of information about it.

Life is very unpredictable, maybe tomorrow, the next day or next month we get involve in sudden accident which can be also a cause of unexpected loss or death. This is why some people are taking some insurance plans that can help them in times of sudden accident or death.

Insurance is a promise of compensation for specific potential future losses in exchange for a periodic payment. Insurance is designed to protect the financial well-being of an individual, company or other entity in the case of unexpected loss. Some forms of insurance are required by law, while others are optional. There are two types of Insurance, Personal Insurance and Commercial Insurance. Personal Insurance are contracts that protect individuals and families from losses due to unexpected events, example of this are accident cover, which is for unexpected accident and funeral cover is for sudden or unexpected loss/death while Commercial Insurance is purchased for businesses to protect their assets and various enterprises. There are also income insurance that was offered by certain companies like Guardian Income Insurance where in you monthly income was insured up to 75% if you are unable to work for an extended period due to sickness or injury.

My neice is going to Australia soon and one of the requirements for getting a visa is getting an insurance. Should she get an australian life insurance? I mean it should have everything in the package such as funeral insurance or term life insurance. She’s going to be staying there for more than six months which is considered a long stay so she really needs to get an insurance just in case anything happens.

I’ve asked my good friend then who is an insurance to help her with everything. He told me that she should get the best package because there’s only a little difference on the price but yet the benefits are greater. I agree too and hopefully she does make the right choice and also I wish my niece a happy and safe trip. Doors will be opened for her when she goes to Australia. It will be certainly a big thing for her and her family.

I’ve been active in Yuna’s school community lately. I’m always present in every LSC (Local School Council) meeting and Parent/Teacher conferences so that’s why I’m updated with all their programs that is offered to parents for free. In fact, I’ve already started attending a workshop called At-Home-Tutor. It is about learning how to teach young kids properly. You know, those things about teaching children without yelling and to avoid negative body language.

This entry is for Mommy Moments which is about motherly advice. Since I’m not good in giving advice and I don’t wanna sound preachy, I will just share what I’ve learned from the workshop.

The picture below showed some techniques that we tackled during our first meeting.

I'm guilty with the 'words & phrases to avoid with wrong answer'. Avoid negative body language means don't show your facial expression of disappointment.

I am so thankful for this workshop. It enlightened the important part of my motherhood. Aside from lectures, the program also gives us helpful materials like these:

Its only half of the materials that they are going to give us. There's more until the last session and we have 3 more sessions to go. My 6-yr-old like the board game a lot. The board game help kids to focus, organize and think. The ABC's are useful for my toddler as well.

My 6-yr-old almost mastered all the 'sight' words. Actually, she's done with red words and just a few of the blue words to back read. Mastered means reading without pause, hesitation and sounding the word.

Never stop finding ways to teach your kids better. Mistakes lead to progress. Encourage your child to take risks.

This afternoon was my 1st-grader’s school open house. John Salmons and some other unfamiliar players of the Chicago Bulls visited the school. According to the school principal, my daughter’s school was chosen as one of the schools that are being adopted by NBA Cares program because they have one of the highest percentage of students who passed the ISAT exams last school year. My hubby was a bit disappointed cos he was expecting Derick Rose will be there hehe. I’m so proud that this is Yuna’s school. My hubby was right, Yuna is in the best school here in Chicago… one of the best.

To those who asked me if Yuna goes to a private school the answer is NO. William C. Goudy is a public school. I don’t think middle class family would like to send there kids to a private school when there are lots of decent public schools here in the US. Well, some kids go to private schools but more like a day care center but its not a big community school. Big private schools here in the US are expensive and when I say expensive, we are talking about $18K-$30k per school year. Well that depends where you live but if you live in the city that’s the approximate range of rates. Also, majority of the students here in the US go to public schools cos they’re saving for college. Expensive isn’t it? Unlike in the Philippines, there’s lots of big private schools which are affordable. But like we always say, it doesn’t matter what school you go to as long as you never let it interfere with your education.

Moreover, I’m so glad that the school counsel decided to let their students wear uniforms starting this school year. There’s few obvious reasons why most parents agreed to let their kids wear uniforms. First, is because, it is much cheaper and 2nd is you save lots of dirty clothes to be washed. As for my own point of view, I prefer uniform because it looks more neat. Also, I think it’s nice to hear if some people will think that your kids goes to a private school like we always encountered because generally public school in the US don’t have uniforms.

School issued 2 types of uniform in 4 different colors. They have short and long sleeved polo shirt available in gray, white, light/baby blue and maroon colors. They also have separate P.E uniforms. The bottoms have two choices for girls. They can wear pants or skirt. School did it in purpose so students can still freely choose what to wear for the day.

A follow up entry to my previous post…

Like what I’ve said my 17-month-old baby started using a sippy cup when she was almost 9 months old. At first, I wasn’t serious about letting my baby drink from a sippy cup but since all babies like to mimic others actions, I showed her how to do it as well to let her copy myself. Just like when you train a toddler to belly dance as young as they are to let their bones and muscles become flexible.

Furthermore, I’m not going into details cos am pretty sure all mommies and professional babysitters out there know about this very well. Like I, myself, I’m aware that long time sucking can cause damage to baby’s mouth. Even my mom told me about this thing ages ago cos there’s a lot of Filipino kids who lose their teeth as young as the age of 3 yrs old. Bad teeth are not inherited, just to let you know. According to an expert… “Parents do pass on bad teeth to their children, but not in the way you think. It isn’t genetics — tooth decay is an infectious disease!”. Teeth don’t grow on different direction and don’t grow with tooth decay, they grow perfectly if they’re taken care of.

Freya 8 months and 2 weeks sipping her pink sippy cup from Dollar Tree store.

In addition to that, you don’t need to buy expensive training cup just to well trained your baby, although you have to make sure not to put anything liquid that is extremely hot. Actually, I got Freya’s 1st sippy cup at Dollar Tree where everything is a dollar. Patience was never my virtue, even now. I always lose my patience when Freya starts watering her milk on our carpeted floor. When that happens, I stop giving her milk from the sippy cup for a week. Does anyone want to rub carpet every single time? I’m pretty sure no one

But the point is… all you need to do is to let your baby get used to anything new to her/him. And to show them what’s the use of that certain thing. It’s just a matter of getting used to it and the willingness of a parent. I know I sound repetitive but don’t get me wrong guys, I’m not trying to be an expert mom cos obviously, I’m not. It just happened that my most hated part of a person is having bad teeth. Okay lang panget paa basta maganda ipin dahil kahit ano mangyari may hahalik at hahalik sayo.

I first introduced the sippy cup to my baby Freya when she was 8 months old same goes to my eldest. At first, I put juices and water in their cup just a little bit, more like 1/4 in the cup. I just let them drink from the cup little by little until they get used to it. Now, my youngest is 17 month olds, she drink from a cup like a big kid. I also let her sip on a normal cup what adults use right now. For me as a mother, it is important that I stop them from using baby bottles as early as possible to protect their gums and teeth. My kids’ dentist said that during a child’s first few years, sucking habits probably won’t damage babies mouth. But frequent and long-term sucking can cause problems. Long-term sucking can cause: 1) The top front teeth to slant out 2) The bottom front teeth to tilt in 3) The upper and lower jaws to be misaligned 4) The roof of the mouth to be narrower side to side.

My eldest who is now in 1st grade have very nice teeth according to her dentist that we just visited a week ago for her school dental checkup. She only has mild cavities or what they called baby cavities. Even though we need to go back to the clinic for her filling but her teeth are in perfect alignment.

My entry for Happy Monday everyone!

I’ll return a visit 1st thing in the morning

WHEN CAN MY BABY USE A SIPPY CUP?

Expert Answers
[spoiler /Click to show the article/ /Click to hide/]

Although some moms whose babies won’t take a bottle may offer breast milk or formula from a sippy cup earlier, 7 months is a good time to start teaching your baby how to use one on his own. When your baby has started feeding himself finger foods, which could be as early as 7 months or as late as 10 months, you can introduce drinking from a sippy cup. “He might have better luck using a cup with a spout and two handles rather than one that doesn’t have anything for him to hold on to,” says Rachel Brandeis, a registered dietitian in Atlanta.

Keep in mind that some sippy cups have a removable plastic valve in the top to prevent spills when the cup is tipped over. The valve, though great for reducing messes, can also make it harder for your baby to suck down the drink. If your baby’s frustrated that he can’t get more liquid out of the sippy cup, remove the valve. Expect spills and perhaps a little gagging when he gets that first big sip, but this might help him get used to a cup.

If your baby’s having trouble figuring out how to suck through the spout, take the lid off and let him drink straight from the cup (show him how to tip it back so the drink flows into his mouth). More of the liquid may end up on him than in his mouth, but this is a great way to show your baby that there’s fluid in the cup. Once he gets the hang of it, you can put the lid back on the cup to prevent spills.

One benefit of switching to a sippy cup sooner rather than later is that the longer a baby drinks from a bottle, the harder it is to wean him. If you’re breastfeeding, you can even bypass the bottle altogether and go straight to a sippy cup for other beverages. But if you first fill it with breast milk or formula, make sure he drinks enough, since drinking from a sippy cup is slow going at first.
