This guest post from Doris Dillon

Once of the things I love most about renovating old houses is how creative I get to get doing so. I love picking out paint colors that were appropriate at the time the house was built and scouring the web for things like old door knobs, faucets, and other knick nacks. I think it’s so much fun to take a house from bare bones to a fully decorated and restored piece of art. I found my latest place up in the mountains and I’ve had a blast turning it back into what it once was. I went to WWW.shopelectricityratestexas.COM to make sure our air costs were down since it isn’t very well insulated and hired some local contractors who seem to have done a lot of work on old Victorians like this one. They did an amazing job and I like the finished product so much I think I’m going to live in it rather than putting it on the market like I normally do to see who wants to buy at any given time!

I admit it. I have a serious crush on Franny the Nanny. I can’t get enough of Franny or the show The Nanny. I watch every episode on my satellite TV, that I got after seeing these best promotions on awesome tv programming. Not only is Franny gorgeous, she is extremely funny.

The show the Nanny is about a wealthy widower, Maxwell, that hires a nanny to take care of his home and his children. It is clear from the beginning that the two share feelings for each other but they try to fight them. The Franny means well she often causes crazy situations to happen that she has to desperately try to fix by the end of the show.

Niles is the wise-cracking butler in the show. He often is caught spying on anybody in the house and often times helps Franny with any problems that she may have. Chastity Babcock is the assistant to Maxwell and doesn’t like Niles or Franny. Each episode usually has Chastity bumping heads with either Niles or Franny, and sometimes both.

Each and every episode is truly funny. Franny’s mother often makes an appearance and she is quite a funny character herself. But as for me, I will always love the show for Franny the Nanny.

One of the hottest events to watch on television is Academy Awards. I absolutely love watching the Academy Awards to see what it is that celebrities are wearing. It is so awesome to see what designers celebrities choose to wear for the Academy Awards. It is also neat to notice the trends in dresses throughout the show.

I always watch the Academy Awards on my DIRECT TV whenever I get a chance. This awards ceremony always features some of the top celebrities wearing the top designers. Some of the top designers that always feature dresses in this show are Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Armani, Chanel, and Prada. It is phenomenal to see which high end designers a celebrity chooses to wear. I always love to see what Julia Roberts or Kate Hudson is wearing at the Academy Awards. Even celebrities like Oprah Winfrey are interesting to watch at the Academy Awards for their designer choices. It is also neat to see which accessories celebrities choose to wear at the Academy Awards.

If one notices, celebrities do not always wear that many accessories at awards ceremonies. Celebrities may choose to only wear a single piece of jewelry at the Academy Awards, as opposed to tons of heavy jewelry. I think they do this in order to accentuate the great designer dress they are wearing for the Academy Awards.

Thanks for the post, Kathy Shelton

It’s that time of year. We’re going to Grandma’s! My mother-in-law has held Christmas Day festivities at her home since I married her son five years ago. In that time, we’ve had two beautiful children. Alice is three and Ben is coming up on his first birthday.

It’s a really special time of year!

“Grandma has the best,” Alice says. Course, she is just starting to really get into the swing of what Christmas is. My mother-in-law aways puts up a beautiful Christmas tree with plenty of decorations, and there is a yummy ham dinner to fill our bellies.

We are so lucky that my husband’s mother lives only two hours away. We pack the diaper bags, bundle up the kids, and I set the home security alarm( info HERE) before locking the front door. We’re then ready to travel!

My husband and I try to plan the road trip with a short nap for the kids. By the time we arrive at Grandma’s, Alice and Ben are ready and raring to go. After having our meal, we sit by the lighted Christmas tree and open our gifts. It’s a great way to spend the holidays, and I am ever so grateful to my mother-in-law for having us over.

As we travel home, it’s dark. My husband and I hold hands and smile. It’s another perfect Christmas!

Thanks to Olga Quinn

As far as New Year’s Eve in my own city goes, I’ve been there and done that. I’ve been to celebrations at several different clubs, at my friends’ houses and even to a few concerts, which were especially nice before I was legal and could get into clubs. But this year I decided that I would go somewhere fun for the holiday. I decided that last year after I was sick of the same old New Year’s Eve scene and started saving up money then. It’s amazing how much money if you just give up on your Starbucks habit a slight bit.

I looked up a whole bunch of destinations to go to for the holiday, but I decided that maybe I should try out somewhere that I had never been before. While I was researching a little bit more, I came across some info about satellite internet packages and after I found some more info, I signed up for one of the internet packages.

So I decided to spend New Year’s in New Orleans. I thought that going to a city that’s known for it’s partying would be a safe bet on having plenty of options for the big night. Plus, I’ve always wanted to go check out the French Quarter.

The Polar Express is the greatest animated Christmas Special ever made, by a wide margin. Everything about The Polar Express, from the story line to the wonderful effects achieved by the high-tech animation, is top-notch. The Christmas classic written by Chris Van Allsburg explores the mysteries of Christmas and was brought to the silver screen by Tom Hanks in 2004. Since then it has become a Christmas TV standard.

The movie is a little scary but also endearing in its highly developed character portrayals of children, ghosts, Santa Claus and other Christmas characters. The animation is beautiful, colorful and emotional. I never want to miss a scene, because so much happens in the movie, as our hero, a pre-adolescent boy takes a journey through Christmas on the Polar Express to answer the age old Christmas question. Does Santa Claus really exist? It’s a roller coaster ride of fantasy and you truly have no idea of what will happen next, if you’ve never seen the movie before.

The Polar Express usually airs more than once on Direct TV channels and is a great show to watch with your family or anyone else. It really explores the true sprit of Christmas without boring you with the same old approach. It is exciting and maybe even educational for children of all ages and thought-provoking for adults. I highly recommend tuning into the enduring and exhilirating Christmas classic, The Polar Express.

Our family loves the first snow of winter. It makes everyone want to get geared up for the snowboarding, sled riding and skiing. Plans start getting made of a bonfire party and a list of the party items is started. The first snow reminds us that soon the snow will be piling up, which reminds us to check to see what the supply of salt is and if we need more. Snow shovels are checked to see if they need replaced and the garage is rearranged for the storing of summer items that can be put to the back of the garage. The whole family helps with moving the items in the garage, so it gets done pretty fast. The temperature is cold enough that everybody loves to get inside where it is warm.

The first snow here is usually not enough to do any sledding, but that doesn’t keep the work from being done. After we are through with the work and inside, we find a movie on the satellite television from DirectStarTV.com that we can all sit and watch while we sip on something warm and have something to eat. Winter time will soon be here with more snow and everyone here can’t wait.

Christmas time is upon us and you know what that means! That is right, it’s nearly time to go Christmas shopping again. It is almost time to gather the little ones and embark on a wonderful journey that starts the Christmas season!

My husband always gathers the kids into the van, while I set our adt home security alarm before we head to get our Christmas tree. The trip is a long scenic journey through the country to a family farm about an hour north of our home. We enjoy pointing out any Christmas lights on the way, the animals, or any silly things that we see along the way.

Once we arrive at the Christmas tree farm, we are sure to take in some of the extras involved: visiting with Santa, looking at the wreaths available, and any other Christmas decorations that may be of interest to our children as they love buying a new ornament a piece each year.

The main attraction is the tree, the kids love to run up and down the many rows of fresh Christmas trees, they make it a game who can find the best tree in the least amount of time. Of course, this is our decision, but we do not want to ruin their fun. When we agree on the tree as a family, everyone is happy.

On Thanksgiving, most families just eat Thanksgiving dinner or lunch and then sleep off the turkey coma afterward. Not in our family. After all of us eat our meal and my dad, brother and husband go to sleep and snore in the living room, me and my mom and my sister always go and see a movie that afternoon.

I started planning all of the stuff that I’m going to bring to Thanksgiving dinner and looking up what kind of movie that we’re going to go and see together afterwards with my yakima clear wireless internet.

I really love Jake Gyllenhall, so I’m trying to talk my my and sister into going and seeing his new movie Love and Other Drugs, with Anne Hathaway and that he’s a pharmaceutical rep with Viagra. I think it will be a really good romantic comedy, or drama, I can’t really tell which it is to take in after eating our weight in pumpkin pie. I would say that weÕd go and see the new Harry Potter movie, but IÕm definitely doing that as soon as it comesout on the 19th.

The thing about preseason NBA Basketball is that it allows you to either confirm your suspicions about a player, or reevaluate your opinions. After all, preseason basketball is where we get to see players showcase the skills they have worked on in the summer, if they’ve worked on them. This also tells us whether a player is lazy or cares about adding to his game. For years I have assumed Dwight Howard to be either lazy or just too busy working on his muscle definition to care about his basketball skills. This preseason, however, I have been pleasantly surprised by his new bank shot.

In fact, you can tell the entire NBA has been shocked that the former post man is now facing up and dropping 15 footers from the wing. While his form is still horrendous to look at and causes many defenders to laugh or retch in disgust, the ball still goes into the basket, and ultimately that is all that matters. If he can make that shot with regularity, at some point defenders will have to guard him up close, which will open up his drive and devastating dunk. It will also save the wear and tear on his body and prolong his career in ways far better than adding an extra layer of muscle. I watched Dwight improve his game on my NBA league pass through my direct tv subscription.
