At-Home-Tutor workshop

mommy momentsI’ve been active in Yuna’s school community lately. I’m always present in every LSC (Local School Council) meeting and Parent/Teacher conferences so that’s why I’m updated with all their programs that is offered to parents for free. In fact, I’ve already started attending a workshop called At-Home-Tutor. It is about learning how to teach young kids properly. You know, those things about teaching children without yelling and to avoid negative body language.

This entry is for Mommy Moments which is about motherly advice. Since I’m not good in giving advice and I don’t wanna sound preachy, I will just share what I’ve learned from the workshop.

The picture below showed some techniques that we tackled during our first meeting.

I'm guilty with the 'words & phrases to avoid with wrong answer'. Avoid negative body language means don't show your facial expression of disappointment.

I am so thankful for this workshop. It enlightened the important part of my motherhood. Aside from lectures, the program also gives us helpful materials like these:

My 6-yr-old almost mastered all the 'sight' words. Actually, she's done with red words and just a few of the blue words to back read. Mastered means reading without pause, hesitation and sounding the word.

Its only half of the materials that they are going to give us. There's more tomorrow.

Never stop finding ways to teach your kids better. Mistakes lead to progress. Encourage your child to take risks.

Welcome to Mommy Moments!  First time to visit your blog.   Sometimes, its difficult not to answer with the first batch… I’m also a work in progress.  Good thing most of the questions my son now asks start with ‘why’ hehe..  Have a great Mom’s day!
