It’s Summer Vacation here in the US!

Kids in the Philippines are probably going back to school while kids here in our place are having their summer vacation. June 18th was my 1st-grader’s last day of school. According to her, she’s a bit sad and very excited at the same time. She’s sad because she might not be in the same classroom with her friends next school year but  she’s very excited for 2nd grade. She said she can’t wait for September to come again. Though, she’s a bit early for her age she’s still able to keep up with other kids older than her. In fact, she was on the Honor Roll list. I was so surprised when she got home from the last day of her school holding her Honor Roll medal. She’s only 6 yrs old. She will turn 7 on August 24th. BTW, she didn’t attend pre-school she went ahead to Kindergarten. I’m so proud of her

Although it’s summer vacation time, my eldest  is still busy with her extracurricular activities. I enrolled her in Theater/Acting class so she can utilize her imagination and grow more on that field. To improve her social life and to get along with other kids without any trouble. We paid $120 for 8 weeks session, not quite pricey for me. Aside from acting class, she’s still have her singing lesson every Friday for the community choir. She’s in the piano lesson as well. So glad she’s able to get in the piano lesson cos it’s free. It is sponsored by a church in our neighborhood. I’m also planning to put her on a summer reading activity in the local library. It is free as well.

That’s why I’m busy too. I’m busy looking for different things that my kids can do this summer. I’m aiming to look for affordable activities. There’s a lot of opportunities here in my place. I believe that you don’t need to pay all the time to make your kids busy in the summer. All you need to do is to have time. Budget really matters to me that’s why I really put extra effort to look for free activities.

It was taken at the lobby of her acting class school.

it’s good your community is offering many free summer activities. i was looking for free activities here but didn’t find any. we have to pay for every activity with only 6-8 sessions. it’s good too that you are honing your kid’s skills.

btw, it’s my first time here. I added your site on my blog roll.

 Buti pa si Yuna may medal! Sa school nila Nathan hindi nagkaron ng mga ganyan ganyan, puro giveaways lang for free sundaes. And keep it up for bringing her to activities, maganda sa bata yan, di ko naranasan yan sa daddy ko eh military family rin kami noon hindi man lang kami na enroll sa swimming, piano, etc. puro promises na di natupad. kaya sa anak namin, we will try to enroll him at least one at a time, maybe 1 sport and 1 instrument diba. Anyways, keep up the great work, mom – you are doing so good! ;-)

Asawa ko nun ayaw rin, kasi nga overweight rin… pero nung lumipat kami dito sa san diego, ayun – he started thinking of our future. he’s almost 38 and we still don’t have our own house… kumbaga naisip nya bigla lahat, kaya one day sa kapipilit namin na mag gym sya, nagpursige talaga – he lost a total of 60+ lbs. Mahirap mag hanap ng work ngayon, may work ka nga pero you’ll be living paycheck to paycheck naman, gusto na rin namin mamili ng bahay eh or experience to travel the world before we grow old… Tuwang tuwa nga kahapon, mag piphysical na sya next week and alam ko malalagpasan nya yun bago mag basic training, sabi nung sgt. walang nag fe fail sa basic training, you will only fail when you quit. Alam mo, if you know na you guys are doing well naman ngayon, at di kapos sa pera – I’m pretty sure Jr knows what’s he doing. Nakikita nyang kaya nyo mamuhay ng walang tulong sa ibang tao. Biro mo, he lets you be a SAHM and focus on your kids… that’s pretty great to me! you should be proud of your man. If joining the military is his fate, it will come in due time, bata pa naman sya eh. Not like hubby, he will be 38 this dec. kaya Army na lang last hope nya hanggang 42 yun.
LOL nakakatuwa tayo mag usap ano, hehehee. :-)

@kitty: alam mo ba tapos natin mag-usap about military jobs parang gusto ko ulet i-open up sa kanya kaso baka masigawan lang ako. Dumating din kami sa punto na desidido sya mag join tulad nga ng sabi mo napapag-usapan din namin ang magkaron ng sariling bahay at makapag ipon ng malaki kaso lang talaga pag naiisip nya na magkakawalay kami ng ilang buwan or maybe years kasi gusto nya pag pumasok ng military mag-aaral narin sya sa academy nila but it will take years diba? ayaw nya dumaan sa proseso na mawawalay sya samin ng ilang buwan or a year. Saka Airforce lang gusto nya eh ang age limit non 27 diba? he’s turning 27 na this July 7 so ito nalang ang last year nya para mag join sa airforce. I’m still hoping talaga na makapag-isip sya ulet. kaya naman nya kami buhayin ng sya lang kaso talagang hirap sya. tapos may mga humingi pa ng tulong sa kanya sa pinas alam mo na. so im still hoping na maisip nya ulet ang military para lumuwag luwag naman paghihirap nya. Congrats sa hubby mo Kit so happy for you guys. Hindi mapapansin nasa military life narin kayo :)

thank you Willa and Rossel for visiting and commenting :)

Same here in Sweden, summer vacation din. That’s why I can’t get to communicate my nieces and nephews in the Ph when I have the time to and they don’t have. You have a smart daughter. I can imagine how proud you are, Scart.
