The School Girl!

Last Tuesday was Yuna’s 1st day of school. She was very excited and us her parents too. We prepared everything but I, myself wasn’t really that prepared of letting Yuna go to school without us. I was worried and thought of many things like what if she want’s to go to the bathroom? She doesn’t know yet how to unbutton her pants and she’s afraid of going to the restroom alone because she’s not used to using public restrooms and I always accompanied her when we were together. I mean, she’s not that independent to do all the stuff by herself. But my husband said that we have to leave her alone in school so that she can become a little independent in some things. Well, its just a mother’s thought :8:

Now, I’ll tell you all about how her 1st week went. I won’t go on the details just the highlighted part. So then, her teacher said that Yuna can not understand instructions and we thought maybe because she only understands and speak just a few English words. Actually, on her 1st day, her teacher wanted them to write their name but Yuna only wrote the whole alphabet letters in reverse way and she drew a lot of girl’s faces on their writing paper LOL. Just this afternoon after we fetched her, the teacher told us that she did not eat her lunch. She didn’t even touch her food. She also did not want to go to the restroom alone and also she did not want to take off her undies but she kept saying that she wants to pee! She’s funny but cute hehehe. She’s doing good in class, though.

Now I know the reason why other Filipino parents wants their children to speak English at home and never learn Tagalog. Promise, yung friend ko, yung anak nya English at Bicolano lang ang alam. Tagalog.. HINDE! Sabi ko eh paano kung may Filipino subject sa school. Hmmm… I guess may balak din mang ibang bansa ang friend ko.

You need to start to speak English with your kids.

@lily: awww hindi mahirap para sa bata ang matuto ng english lalo na kung dito na sa states nag-aaral mas nagwoworry pako kung matuto pa ba sya magtagalog. thats the reason too why we dont teach her english at home. foreign parents here in the states fear that their kids might forget about their native language.

Ka-cute na bata! ok lang yan! ganyan talaga nasa period of adjustment pa iyan. di natin alam na-stress din ang mga bata lalo na kapag too pushy tayo. eventually she’ll enjoy it too. Napakabilis mag-adopt ng bata, in no time at all she’ll be speaking the language with a foreign twang pa, baka mag-nosebleed ka na dyan! :-)

natural lang yan, you don’t have to speak to Yuna in english, trust me mga pamangkin ko at mga kakilala ko puro mga pinay nanay, all they speak at home is tagalog, kahit sa kanila, pero tignan mo naman lumaki naman silang marunong mag english at magtagalog, siguro hindi marunong mag salita pero nakakaintindi. si Nathan hindi namin tinuturuan, nag tatagalog kami dito, minsan nakakausap rin namin si nate ng tagalog, pero he knows what we mean, nakakaintindi sya. nasa parents na yun kung gusto nilang matuto pa ng tagalog anak nila diba, ako I’m fine with that proud pa nga ako if my child knows our native tounge diba. natural lang naman si Yuna na ganun ang reaction nya dahil she just got here, she needs time to familiarize with everything coz this is new to her. she’ll be fine, wag ka mag alala. lahat ng mga naikwento mo dito ganun rin si nate, except makulit yung akin, lagi na ta time out lolz basta bilhan mo lang sya ng mga maliliit na lunchables, baunan mo ng apples or other fruits, mga snack pack, or di kaya pag kanin gusto nya eh di mas ok, yung anak ko rin ganyan, he doesn’t eat kaya ang payat payat ang arte kasi eh, but they will do fine once nasanay na. anak ko hindi ko sinusuotan ng may butones na pants kasi hindi sya marunong, kelangan pull ups lahat hahaha ingats!!

its normal naman po nag sisimula pa lang naman si yuna but laer on she lern those things. for me it better that she knew how to speak tagalog even if she will be here the rest of her life. In our home we cant speak any other language aside fro filipino… my parents wanted to learn not to forget were we came from… most filipino’s that I knew here didint even understand nor speak tagalog that is for its better to let them learn tagalog english matutunan yan sa skul… my cousins dont really speak tagalog but i talked to him in tagalog talaga. bahala sia…. lol… anyway great job for letting your kids learn tagalog parin… ung iba they thought dito a state kaya mag eengish english sila tapos sa pinas eenglish english pa din. ung iba nabibilib sila kasi slang eh pero mas bibili ako and madami pa iba if the kid/child was raised her but can speak tagalog fluently… my sister is 12 tagalog pa din and visaya d2 sa house palalayasin kami kung mag english eh… sorry napa daldal ako…
