Video: She’s finally biking on her own!

Today was the 2nd attempt for her to ride a bike and she finally did it! I’m surprised cos she is the type of kid who’s always scared to fall or hurt herself. The bike seat is too high for her though so we are still teaching her different ways to get on the bike by herself.

She was visited by a tooth fairy again…

3 weeks ago Daddy pulled her two baby teeth using a sewing thread. It was not hard for Daddy. He easily pulled the teeth cos they were loose but Yuna cried a little bit. After pulling her teeth Yuna was excited for tooth fairy to visit her. She put her teeth under her pillow and when she woke up in the morning I saw her facial expression and how excited she was. She checked her pillow right away and her eyes went wide open. Tooth fairy left 8 bucks under the pillow.

You know what she did with her money? She bought books from the book fair at her school. She also bought a Hannah Montana Microphone toy. Her classmate told her that the tooth fairy is not real and I had to tell Yuna maybe your friend is mean that’s why the tooth fairy never visit her and give her money. We have our own way of making our kids happy and my kids are innocent. I don’t want them to be part of this dirty world yet. I want them to believe in magic and fairy tales.

Yesterday we attended a parent-teacher conference. My daughter’s classroom teacher commented both good and bad about her. The teacher said, “She’s a smart student and she can be smarter than what she is now if she concentrates in the class”. The problem with her is she can’t control herself from talking to her seatmate. She was moved 3 times to different tables hoping she would stop talking. Unfortunately, she still continued to talk a lot. She got A & B on her report card that’s why she’s on the Honor Roll. Here’s the thing if a child keeps talking and doesn’t pay attention when the teacher is explaining their lessons tendency is she will not be able to answer their quizez or test properly. 2nd grade at her age is not easy, not at all. You cannot just learn everything at school without listening, right? Also, the teacher said, she’s kind of lazy cos she mostly doesn’t finish her writing works. Don’t get me wrong mommies, getting A(s) & B(s) are not bad at all but it would be better if she get straight A(s) especially when there’s potential that she can get it.

Now, what are we gonna do? Even how many times we remind her she still can’t stop talking. She even said to me that she don’t wanna think. Funny right? But I still like and love her. She’s sweet and kind and always nice to other people even to older people. Perhaps, we need to extent our patients to her. Not to get tired of reminding and helping her. I’m thankful to people around her from our community who help her a lot by teaching her lots of informative things. It really means a lot to me.

By the way, the photo was a note from her classroom teacher at the back of her report card. She told us she likes our daughter because she sees great potential in her in the future.

Was a busy weekend for my big kid…

This was taken before the rehearsal of their concert last Friday. As some of you know, she’s part of a community choir here in our place. Last Thursday and Friday they sang Christmas songs at two nursing homes in different place to make the elders happy. The concert went well and some of the audience got teary-eyed. I’m just so proud of this girl. So sweet and so kind. We love her so much! I’ll upload more photos and videos in my facebook account. See you there! ^_^×

Kids’ Halloween Activities and costume 2010

This year my kids costume are Majestic Queen for Yuna and Pink Minnie Mouse for Freya. I got Yuna’s costume at Target it was on sale and picked up Freya’s costume at Disney store which is also on sale.

Now where do I begin with their activities? Kids had lots of activities and I am happy about them though it was very exhausting in my part. I’m gonna start it by dates. Warning: Loads of photos :pick:

Oct 29 – Friday: Yuna started her Halloween activities at their school before the weekend. They had a little Halloween party inside their classroom. Children were sharing their own treats with one another. Of course, I took lots of photos and Yuna got lots of candies :hihi:

Oct 30 – Saturday: Halloween at Girl Scout meeting. They read different books with stories about Halloween stuff. They also painted pumpkins. Pumpkin painting was the most fun part. Yuna painted her very 1st pumpkin activity. Sure it was messy but she had lots of fun. She made a pink bow and put it on the top of her pumpkin. Her pumpkin looks like a vampire. I think that was really her idea to make a vampire pumpkin. Freya painted her pumpkin too with my help, of course. By the way, Freya isn’t really part of the Girl Scout. I took her with me cos no ones gonna watch over her :shy2:

Oct 31 – Sunday Morning: Around 10:30 in the morning we went to a Halloween party at my friend’s work. It’s just 2 blocks away from our home so we accepted the invitation. Kids had fun too. The party had some games for the kids and lots of dancing and of course they got plenty of very good quality treats. That was awesome! I, myself enjoyed taking photos and video of them :grin1:

Oct 31 – Sunday Afternoon: Late afternoon we waited for Daddy to come home from his work and went trick-o-treating around the neighborhood. We walked a couple of blocks and then went home. We can no longer stand the cold that’s why we went home early. Good thing I let them use the small bucket from the McDonald’s happy meal. Their buckets became full right away. Am pretty sure if they brought the big pumpkin buckets they wouldn’t go home until the buckets are full :dizzy: Not all the houses gave an effort on decorating their front yard but few of them did a great job! That’s my fave part anticipating the Halloween decorations. I love looking at each houses with fascinating decorations. We live in a building at the corner of the main street so we don’t have a front yard to decorate :shy2:

I had no costume so I just put makeup and made it messy just to look like a dead person. Hubby had no costume too. According to him he doesn’t feel the spirit of Halloween this year That’s it guys hope you had a wonderful Halloween as well. Can’t wait to see your Halloween and Undas blog entries. Well, another late post

Watch these videos I made and witness how happy the kids were during Yuna’s birthday bash. I was having fun while making these videos. As you know, I like doing this kind of stuff. It feels like it is part of me ever since and it will be forever. I made these videos without using any automated theme that’s why it took me forever

My eldest is now 7 years old. We gave her a belated birthday bash at Pump It Up Chicago last August 29th. The day before her birthday party, I can see it in her eyes that she was stoked. She won’t stop saying “Mom, I’m so excited for tomorrow”. She even got up earlier than us. She took a bath and donned her party outfit by herself. It always makes me happy to see my kids smiling. I always have this in mind that I’m going to make my kids’s childhood a memorable one with lots of fun that they can share with their friends when they become adult or to share with their own kids how happy they were. It is also important to me to record every memories I have with my own family so when hubby and I grow old we have something to look back. I just wish that Youtube is still online by the time we reach a very old age, hahaha! After the party, my eldest was very thankful. Until now, she’s still grateful. When she prays at night she doesn’t forget to say thank you to God for having a wonderful birthday bash. Yuna is so sweet, very nice and a grateful young lady.

I’ve prepared her party 3 months before the month of August. I think I’ve searched all the corner of the world wide web just to look for ideas and to see the easiest preparation ever with, of course, a reasonable price. I’m so glad that I’ve stumbled upon Pump It Up Chicago‘s website. I’m so lucky to see that they have great deals during the summer that is not so stressful to our dear wallet LOL. I chose their ULTIMATE SUMMER WEEKEND COZY package which includes 2 slices of pizza, a beverage, a goodie bag, a balloon for each kid. With this package I’d able to invite 15 kids. Though that day 5 kids weren’t able to come but we still had fun. Their staff were friendly. They’ve prepared everything from food to decorations. They also set up the party room with style. They even provide two staff with us inside their arena to assist the kids. I guess I can say that this is the most stress-free birthday preparation I’ve ever plan. I didn’t fret on the day of the party itself. We actually experienced what their service is all about. What I like the most about this place is your party is totally private.

Pump It Up of Chicago is “The Inflatable Party Zone” in Cook County. Our private indoor arenas are filled with gigantic inflatable bounce houses, slides, obstacle courses and more. Hosting a party at Pump It Up of Chicago is the easiest party you will ever plan. Our staff takes care of everything so you can relax and enjoy your kid’s birthday party too! Party options include food, beverages, ice cream cake, and more. All you have to do is coordinate a group of kids who want to have a jumping party, we will do the rest.

I highly recommend this place to our friends. I’m also submitting this post to “Mommy Moment” group because I think it suits the theme for this week because we were giddy young people at the party. teehee!

Last Day of Her Theater Class

My eldest took an acting / theater class for a total of 8 classes and last August 9th they had an Open Class for parents to watch just to see what their kids have been doing. It was great and I had fun watching all the kids sharing their imagination by performing. What made me think of sending my daughter to an acting class is that I want her to get along with other kids and to improve her speech skills. She is kind of weak on that part. Also to overcome her shyness around people. Since they only had 8 classes, I cant see the improvement yet. Although you can notice just a little bit of improvement, she still has to take more classes to hone her skills according her teacher. So I might enroll her again for the next session. I’m also considering looking for other options or different classes.

Finally I was able to find an alternative school. It’s called Stage Coach but their rates would prolly hit our budget so bad LOL. I need to consider other things before jumping into something expensive. You know me, I’m a frugal mom XD. The school is awesome according to people’s review. Their classes could only be taken every Saturday for 3 hours. Package includes singing, dancing and acting but like I said it might be too much for our budget. Well, whatever happens I will not stop looking for other options for the betterment of my daughter.

As some of you know that my eldest took summer piano classes which ended last August 6th. I want to brag about how my hubby and I were so proud of our eldest for doing a great job during their piano recital. Hubby told me that she’s the 2nd best among the kids who played. There are 41 kids. Some of them only played short piano pieces. My eldest played a song that was taught by her Dad himself. The song was played by hubby when he was a kid. In fact, hubby can no longer remember what’s the title of the song. So we asked my daughter’s piano teacher if they happened to know the song but unfortunately they don’t know either. After Yuna played the song to her piano teacher, her teacher liked it and told us that it’s gonna be the piece that she’s going to play on the recital and the teacher even made up a title for the song and called it “Doodles”.

Ever since we bought keyboards for our eldest, she can’t stop playing it anymore. When she gets up in the morning she goes straight to her keyboard and play random songs LOL. Same goes before going to bed and in the middle of the day. She’s a fast learner. Right now, she’s practicing the melody of Fur Elise and Pachelbel Canon in D. Daddy is the one whose teaching her all the time. They can’t get anything from me. I don’t have any knowledge in playing instruments . We are planning to send her to a piano class again. I’m just looking for reasonable rates cos some of the piano class I’ve searched online is so expensive. By the way, her summer piano class was free. We only spend money for the keyboard cos she needed it while taking the class. We also bought the keyboard as a birthday gift for her. She’s gonna be 7 yrs old this coming Tuesday. Hooray! We love you very much Yuna!

I forgot to tell her to spit it out and I don’t even know she was chewing gum. Oh well too late to whine (_ _”)

Mommy Moments – Yuna’s School Bags

This week at mommy moments talks about School Bags of their kids and this is my entry. I dislike to buy school supplies every school year unless it is necessary. But I tend to buy all the time cos you know, we can’t always expect little kids to take care of their stuff. They just want to play most of the time. So most of us mommies don’t have a choice but to buy our kids new school supplies every year or should I say, every month Nevertheless, I’m still lucky that my daughter’s birthday is a week before the 1st day of the new school year. She received lots of gift that mostly stuff that she can use at school

This bag was a gift from our friend last Christmas. This is going to be my daughter’s new bag. She’s gonna be in 2nd grade this coming September.

The Disney bag was her 1st school bag ever. She used it during Kindergarten. The Bratz bag was also a gift from her Papa (Hubby’s dad). She used it last school year.

It’s Summer Vacation here in the US!

Kids in the Philippines are probably going back to school while kids here in our place are having their summer vacation. June 18th was my 1st-grader’s last day of school. According to her, she’s a bit sad and very excited at the same time. She’s sad because she might not be in the same classroom with her friends next school year but she’s very excited for 2nd grade. She said she can’t wait for September to come again. Though, she’s a bit early for her age she’s still able to keep up with other kids older than her. In fact, she was on the Honor Roll list. I was so surprised when she got home from the last day of her school holding her Honor Roll medal. She’s only 6 yrs old. She will turn 7 on August 24th. BTW, she didn’t attend pre-school she went ahead to Kindergarten. I’m so proud of her

Although it’s summer vacation time, my eldest is still busy with her extracurricular activities. I enrolled her in Theater/Acting class so she can utilize her imagination and grow more on that field. To improve her social life and to get along with other kids without any trouble. We paid $120 for 8 weeks session, not quite pricey for me. Aside from acting class, she’s still have her singing lesson every Friday for the community choir. She’s in the piano lesson as well. So glad she’s able to get in the piano lesson cos it’s free. It is sponsored by a church in our neighborhood. I’m also planning to put her on a summer reading activity in the local library. It is free as well.

That’s why I’m busy too. I’m busy looking for different things that my kids can do this summer. I’m aiming to look for affordable activities. There’s a lot of opportunities here in my place. I believe that you don’t need to pay all the time to make your kids busy in the summer. All you need to do is to have time. Budget really matters to me that’s why I really put extra effort to look for free activities.
